Giant Hammer

House-mates turned bandmates, eora based indie band “Giant Hammer” have much more in common than musical sensibilities.

“We were kind of looking for a way to hang out, as a house, I guess”

Backtrack to 2022, and the groups first track “Spills” was created in one sitting in the so called “house red” - with guitar riffs provided by guitarist Milo and lyrics derived from a book of poems provided by an original bandmate, Maz.

In an interview with Jasper on Real to Reel the band reveal the path to Swing Low’s eventual release. Ironically an impromptu and impulsive conceptualisation, the actual journey to the ep/ albums release was a meandering process, with (much like a sharehouse) people wandering in and out. Featuring four singers and songwriters across six tracks, (some of whom are no longer in the band) it possesses an earnest makeshift feel that translates perfectly in the music’s raw and endearing qualities.
