Overview of the role:
We’re on the hunt for a forward-thinking, motivated Fundraising & Philanthropy Manager to lead and implement fbi.radio’s refreshed and innovative fundraising strategy. Reporting directly to the Managing Director (Operations), the role will oversee fbi’s membership, donation and philanthropic portfolios, working closely with the Partnership & Sponsorship team to nurture relationships, streamline process and maximise revenue.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement fundraising initiatives and campaigns
- Manage and nurture relationships with donors, sponsors and community partners
- Develop a base of potential new donors by identifying leads and actively cultivating relationships
- Provide regular and meaningful updates on how donations are used, identifying new opportunities for recognition and engagement
- Plan and coordinate key fundraising events, with support from the Partnerships & Integration team
- Manage event logistics, including budgeting, on-the-ground execution and post-event analysis, with support from the Managing Director (Operations)
- Develop and implement strategies to leverage social media and newsletter audiences to promote campaigns and events, in collaboration with the Digital & Content team
Selection Criteria:
- 2+ years of experience in relationship management, fundraising, sales or similar roles in the nonprofit or community broadcast sector
- Proven success in achieving results through relationship building and tailored engagement activities across diverse supporter groups
- Maintain accurate supporter records and track engagement through CRM systems
- Ability to use data and insights to tailor donor engagement strategies, meet fundraising targets, and drive meaningful connections with supporters from diverse communities
- Highly organised, with excellent time-management and multitasking abilities
- Capable of working independently under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- High levels of emotional intelligence, compassion, and professionalism, with a self-motivated, flexible, and enthusiastic attitude
- Exceptional verbal, written, and persuasive communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, make people feel at ease, and engage with individuals from all backgrounds effectively
- Genuine interest in making an impact across diverse initiatives and communities
- A passion for and understanding of independent media, youth markets and Sydney music arts and culture
Desirable:
- Experience with the Australian philanthropic landscape
- Previous experience in building bequest pipelines
