☆ NIA ARCHIVES INTERVIEW ☆
Producer, singer, songwriter, filmmaker – you name it, Nia Archives could be considered any of them. Self-described “emotional junglist” Nia sings cursive melodies over some of the most relentless breakbeats you’ve ever heard. It’s the sound of 100 thoughts racing through your head but full of catharsis. Soon, she became a leader of a widespread jungle and drum’n’bass revival alongside artists like dazegxd and SHERELLE.
Last year, Nia unleashed Silence Is Loud– a songbook that injected the ferocity of jungle with the glittery immediacy of pop ballads. It’s emo and elated, a diary blown up into sleek yet sensitive anthems made for arena-sized catharsis.
In conversation with Bindi Mutiara on Tuesday Arvos, the Bradford-born, Leeds-raised artist talks about the intersection between punk and electronica, stop giving a damn on what they think, and that she's always playing in a jungle of emotion.
