Yakup aka Jakob Mehmet is a local DJ based on Gadigal land/Sydney. He can attribute a lot of influences to classic genres like Funk, Disco, Hip hop and New wave. The slinky, swung out grooves of NY house or a poppy melody on a saw bass electro hook is enough to make him smile or wince his face. Leaning into nostalgia and with a fun-loving attitude Yakup can appreciate both the what-you-see-is-what-you-get and the alternative side of genres when approaching his selections - all in all, always a mixed bag. He also loves to collaboratively curate and organise a party called Bump! with his friends.
