Good morning! Today's Bento Box artist comes from a dear listener (thanks Mark!): Hump Back
Hump Back (Japanese: ハンプバック) is an all-female Japanese rock band formed in Higashiōsaka, Osaka in 2009, in a high school's light music club. Lead vocalist and guitarist Momoko Hayashi has been the only constant member, with bassist Pika and drummer Misaki completing the lineup since 2016. They were inspired by another famous girls' rock band Chatmonchy. The group, led by vocalist/guitarist Momoko, participated in various youth music competitions including the “Senko Riot”, an outdoor music event showcasing teen bands around the country.
The reason behind the name "Hump Back" came from band leader Momoko Hayashi, a cat lover, who wanted to pick a word indirectly related to cats. By chance she saw the word "humpback", and noted its meaning in Japanese (Nekoze: a back like cats). As a result, Hump Back uses a humpback whale logo for their merchandise.
